Just Walk (powered by Walk with a Doc) – is an international organization that offers free walking programs in communities around the world led by local doctors, healthcare providers, or medical students.
At the Hamilton Family Health Team (HFHT), we’ve just started a new chapter of Just Walk – and you’re invited to join us! All walks are free and open to the public.
Our first walk will be led by HFHT’s Jake Tumber, PT on:
- Date: Friday, May 2, 2025
- Time: 9:00 am to 10:00 am
- Location: Bayfront Park, 200 Harbour Front Dr, Hamilton, ON L8L 1C8 (Meet in the parking lot).
- Topic: The health benefits of walking
Why attend?
- Benefits for your health: Walking is one of the best things you can do for both your physical and mental health! Each walk lasts one hour; you’ll have the opportunity to walk at a pace and distance that you’re comfortable with.
- Learn about health: When you show up, you’ll be greeted by one of our healthcare providers – maybe a physiotherapist, family doctor, registered dietitian, mental health counsellor, or other provider – who will first give a brief presentation on a health topic.
- Meet new people: Research shows that socializing with others is extremely important for our health. Bring a friend or meet a new friend during the walks around the Hamilton community.
- Explore Hamilton: Each walk will take place at different locations around Hamilton.
“I am a Physiotherapist with a lifelong passion for exercise, so I am very pleased to have been able to bring the Just Walk program back to Hamilton. I look forward to bringing healthcare providers and community members together to improve health and enjoy our environment.”
— Jake Tumber, PT
