At the Hamilton Family Health Team, we believe that nutrition should feel practical, enjoyable, and accessible; not overwhelming. Whether you’re managing a health condition, feeding a busy family, stretching your grocery budget, or simply wanting new ideas, we’re here to help.
What is Nutrition Month?
March (2026) marks Dietitians of Canada’s Nutrition Month: a time to reflect on how food supports not just our physical health, but also our energy, mood, focus, and connection with others. This year’s theme, Nourish to Flourish, reminds us that small, realistic changes in our eating can make a big difference in how we feel every day.
What is Nourish to Flourish?
Flourishing doesn’t require fancy ingredients or expensive superfoods. It can look like:
- Adding another vegetable to your dinner
- Cooking at home one extra night per week instead of getting takeout
- Swapping a sugar-sweetened beverage for water
- Connecting with others who are working towards similar goals
Even small steps help to build confidence, and confidence helps to build lasting change.
Try this recipe: Rainbow Nourish Bowl
Balanced meals can be colourful, affordable, and flexible. It doesn’t need to be complicated.
Create a nourish bowl with ingredients you have on hand and include:
- a whole grain like quinoa or baked potato
- a lean protein such as beans, eggs, chicken, or fish
- fresh or cooked vegetables
- a healthy fat source such as seeds, nuts, avocado, olive oil or dressings
